Pizza Point, Badar Commercial, Defence phase 5

It took us a rather long time to discover Pizza Point.
Apparently it has been around for a while, considering that it delivers 24/7 for free all over Karachi, and already has many outlets in the sprawling metropolis.

Earlier this year, a new Pizza Point outlet opened up in the Badar Commercial area, right across the road from Bundoo Khan. 

This bling announced its arrival on the street that already embodies a thriving 'food avenue'.

The outlet has 2 floors. The ground floor has a 'starry night', outdoorsy kind of theme as it's interior decor, with lots of fake plants.
That's the salad bar in the background - a bit 'bare bones' as you can see.

Couches and booths predominantly serve as seating for larger groups. 

The upper floor is more airy, spacious and well-lit.

Reminiscent of Pizza Hut, the red-walled upper floor has both tables and chairs, as well as booths and couches.
Don't even think about setting foot inside the washrooms in this outlet, even to just wash your (or your children's) hands. They stink! [*gag*]

There is also a private dining area/room in one corner of this floor, which can be reserved in advance.

There is the room, visible in the background in the above shot, where you can see glass windows. We once reserved it for a larger, extended family dinner.

Chicken Lasagne - Rs 300

The lasagne was delicious! And I was really glad to be able to order it with chicken instead of beef.

Salad - Rs 275
We have found the salad bar items (pastas, seasonal fruit, croutons, boiled potatoes, and dressings) to almost always be very fresh. Notice how the croutons resemble 'namak paray'? :)
 
What we usually order at Pizza Point for our main course, is one of the "Dhamaka" deals, as well as the 'Buy one, get one free' offer on pizzas that can be availed via the Rs 500 membership card.

The Afghani Feast flavor rocks, because of a special sauce that they use on its base.
It is a bit on the spicy side.

The Cheese 'N Pepperoni flavor is loved by my family.
As the name suggests, it has only two main toppings: cheese and beef pepperoni.

Arabian Green

Arabian Green is one of my favorite pizzas at Pizza Point!
It is quite spicy, because of an underlying base of green chili sauce (hence the name).
The jalapenos and generous swirl of garlic sauce on top of it also add an awesome twist to its flavors.
Don't have this if you don't like spicy food, though.

Verdict: Pizza Point offers great pizzas at comparatively economical rates, especially if you avail their membership. 

Some of their flavors are very unique, such as Afghani Feast and Arabian Green. We have also tried a lighter tasting flavor, called Italian Lite, which will be loved by those who dislike spices. 

A great alternative to Pizza Hut, in my opinion. No offense. :)

Note: This outlet at Badar Commercial has no play area for children. Also, their management needs to seriously spruce up and maintain the washrooms' level of sanitation.

Pizza Kinng, Badar Commercial, Phase 5, Defence

Pizza Kinng is the latest addition to the list of restaurants inhabiting the double road passing between Daily Dubai Restaurant and KFC i.e. actually between 26th street and Saba Avenue in Defence phase 5.

The outlet is on the first floor, with a play area for children in its centre.

The outlet is clean and spacious. The high-backed wooden benches were quite uncomfortable though.

The deals on offer nowadays.

We decided to go for this one.

 The salad was fresh. However, at just 9 p.m at night, the containers at the salad bar were a bit empty. They could have refilled them, considering how we were scraping the different components of the salad off the bottoms of the vessels.

Garlic Bread - one has a bite taken off by a kid of mine. It wasn't served like that.  :)

Chicken Tikka personal pan pizza deal, with one soft drink - Rs 150.
It was thin crust by default, and tasted great!

Chicken Pepperoni Pizza - regular.
This was really mildly spiced, having no veggies; only sliced pepperoni and generous amounts of melted cheddar cheese. It was a hit with the children but we liked it a lot too.

Kinng's Supremo Pizza - it was alright. The Supreme Pizza at Pizza Hut is much better, in my opinion.

This was our bill for a very filling and good meal. You can't beat the prices. Much more economical than Pizza Hut.

I think Pizza Kinng is a good alternative if you're in the mood for some simple pizza.

Student Biryani, Badar Commercial Area, Phase 5, Defence

Cafe Student serving delicious Chicken Biryani started a long, long time ago, as any Karachiite knows, and eventually their biryani came to be known as Student Biryani. Today, it is a thriving business that has many outlets in the city. 

This outlet recently opened in Defence phase 5, on 13th street in Badar Commercial area, between Daily Dubai Restaurant and the KFC on main 26th street.

The outlet is double-storied and offers a play area for children. 

The style of the menus reminds one of KFC.

There are many deals on offer for different family sizes.

I must admit this new outlet is spacious and probably worth the investment in the long run.

This is the downstairs reception area.

As I said, this outlet is huge and very family-friendly. This is the spacious upper floor.

The prices are fairly economical.

Kids's meals come with the usual toys.

We ordered these two deals: Deal 1 and Deal 2.

Parents can dine in peace because of the presence of a play area on the upper floor that entertains the young ones.

Deal 1 was for Rs 180: quarter fried chicken (2 pieces), French fries, dinner roll and a Coke.

Finger Fish for Rs 110 for the children. I have tried this more than once, and I must say that for a Biryani outlet, they sure make superb finger fish!

Chicken nuggets (6 pieces) with some fries for the children - Rs 140.
As good in quality as those found at the franchise with the golden arches. ;)

Deal 2, priced at Rs 240, included one regular plate of Student Chicken Biryani, raita, and...

....One (beef) Shami Kabab, one piece of fried chicken, and a Coke.

Daal Gosht - Rs 50.
Yup, for a biryani outlet, they offer lots of other great-tasting stuff at very economical prices.

Beef Nihari - Rs 80, and a chapati/roti in the background.

Plain Zarda (sweetened rice) for Rs 40

Verdict: Do I even need to say it? The biryani is awesome! And this, coming from someone who is not a particular fan of biryani, despite it being one of the most popular items in our local cuisine (judging from how it is an imperative part of the menu at every wedding). 

Student Biryani was always here to stay, but now it is wearing its crown with a bit more dash and zing! :)
